Feb. 5th17th Annual Amateur Chef’s Night DinnerSacred Heart Church, 90 Melrose Rd., Auburn. Thursday, February 5, 2015 from 6:30 to 8:30pm, the Community Preservation Committee’s (CPC’s) signature fundraising event returns to Sacred Heart. What a great opportunity to eat, drink and be merry with friends and family, all while supporting the Willard Chapel.

What makes this food-and fun-fund raiser so special is the hearty participation of many chefs we know and love from our own community. Our friendly chefs will prepare and serve appetizers, soups, and desserts with a side of cheery banter! A carving station, with beer tasting by Budweiser joining long-time supporter Dr. Frank for wine tasting, rounds out the fare for the evening. A silent auction of quality goods and services adds a dash of excitement too! There will be ample informal seating for everyone. Tickets for Chef’s Night are a $40 donation per person and are available at the Willard Chapel office, 17 Nelson Street Auburn. Stop by anytime we’re open Tuesdays through Fridays, 10am- 4pm.   • Cayuga Museum, 203 Genesee St. – The Cayuga Museum will celebrate First Friday with an opening reception for two new exhibits. Local Links: Notable People with Cayuga Connections will be on the main floor, and Processing the Past: Glass Plate Negatives from Our Collection will be on the second floor. Light refreshments will be served.
  • Finger Lakes Artists Coop, 101 Genesee St. – Finger Lakes Art Cooperative will celebrate February First Friday with Valentine Making for Meals on Wheels. We will of course have refreshments, music and artist meet & greet.

Feb. 6th – March 22ndNotable People with Cayuga Connections & Processing the Past – Cayuga Museum of History & Art, 203 Genesee St., Auburn. Notable People with Cayuga Connections will celebrate the lives and works of people from two different groups – those who grew up here and achieved fame and fortune elsewhere, or those who were famous and had a close connection to Cayuga County. Visit the exhibit and learn their story. A second exhibit, Processing the Past, will showcase photographs produced from glass plate negatives in the museum collection. Feb. 6thGeneva Night Out on Friday, The Smith Center of the Arts, 82 Seneca St., Geneva Ny. The Geneva Historical Society will bring you the 1940s-style radio drama John Grimes: P.I. Gumshoes, dames and a tough guy named Rocco come to life complete with a sound effects table. Starring Murray Heaton, Michael Rusinko, Eric Duchess, and Eleanor Stearns. The show runs for 30 minutes and will be performed at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. The presentation will be free and open to the public. Feb. 7thWinter BirdsSterling Nature Center, 15730 Jenzvolt Rd. Sterling. One of the most popular winter wildlife activities in the US is watching and feeding birds at a feeding station. This program will help you identify the birds at your feeder and show you ways to create simple feeders. Participants will create a peanut butter and seed feeder to take home. Feb. 7th & 8th13th Annual Mardi GrasCayuga Lake Wine Trail, Cayuga Lake Area. Beads, Beads plus Prizes along the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail at our 13th Annual Mardi Gras event. You will receive a wine glass at your starting point winery, and at each winery you’ll receive wine and food pairings, recipe cards plus those incredible beads. Back by popular demand the Mardi Gras attendee will be able to pick the lucky coin for some prizes and giveaways at each winery. It’s a 17 clue Scavenger Hunt so check the clues as you visit each winery. Figure out the clues or riddles to win a sampler case of fine wines from the trail. Make sure to hand in your ticket to be eligible to win one of our Grand Prizes. Packages will be available with accommodations at local hotels in Ithaca, Auburn and Seneca Falls, with transportation and tickets to the event.
