David Lindley is a Grammy nominated multi-instrumentalist that redefines the word “eclectic.” The majority of instruments Lindley has incorporated are string instruments, including the acoustic and electric guitar, banjo, electric lap steel guitar, Weissenborn, mandolin, fiddle, saz baglama, bouzouki, and oud . This spring see Rose Hill Mansion in a whole new light! On Friday, May 15, 2015, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., the Geneva Historical Society will be offering a special evening tour of the Mansion’s first floor focused on how the rooms were used, especially in the evening.

In the era before electric light, what did people do after dark? How did they get around their house, grounds, and community without modern lighting? Find out more about the Swan family’s night life during the late 1800s and view the rooms yourself by (electric) candlelight. Tours will leave every 30 minutes beginning at 6:30 p.m. The tour will last approximately 45 minutes and the last tour starts at 8:30 p.m. This special event includes light refreshments. The Carriage House Gift Shop and the Billsboro Tasting Room will also be open for the event. Admission is $10 per person, $7 for members of the Geneva Historical Society. Rachel Bell of the Andrew & Noah band and Montage The three have just started an all-women THREE accordion band…. And they aren’t playing accordions in the traditional sense; it’s not going to be all ooom-pah-pah “Lady of Spain” style. They’ll be exploring the most beautiful textures and sounds that the instruments are capable of producing, so that they sound together like a pipe organ in one set, like a string quartet in another, like dancing fiddles in another set, and on and on. Walt Disney never wrote a note of music himself, but he was responsible for dozens of the most beloved and memorable songs of our culture. From the classic When You Wish Upon a Star to the 2014 Oscar-winning Let It Go, Disney songs are an integral part of American music and have provided a musical connection between generations of children and their parents. MasterWorks Chorale will pay tribute to the Magical Music of Disney as part of the Annual Spring Gala on Sunday, May 17, at the Springside Inn in Auburn. Conducted by Music Director Kip Coerper, ChM., the 50-voice choir and soloists will perform hit songs from the vast Disney repertoire. The fun-filled event will also include a Silent Auction, raffles, drinks, appetizers and dinner from the Springside Inn’s Oak & Vine Restaurant.
